The State Attorney's Office ruled: The residents of Lod who physically defended the neighborhood during the "Wall Guard" acted legally.

The case against the residents of Lod who defended their neighborhood from a pogrom of an Arab mob in the operation, will be closed out of innocence.

This is what the Central District Attorney's Office informed Adv. Adi Keidar of the Honno organization, which represents three of the residents.

These are residents who on the first night of the riots in the city of Lod, had to go out and divide their bodies between an Arab crowd and the residents' houses.

During the incident, the residents were attacked with stones, irons and Molotov cocktails, and were forced to fire in the air in order to keep the rioters away from the houses of the neighborhood.

It was later alleged that as a result of the shooting, one of the Arab rioters was injured and found dead.

Recall that for a long time, the residents of the neighborhood begged the police to come and help them in front of the crowd, which attacked the neighborhood and began to get closer and closer - but the police did not come, and the Arab crowd approached the neighborhood houses in a life-threatening manner.

In light of this, a number of men living in the neighborhood were forced to divide their bodies, risking their lives, between the Arab crowd and the neighborhood houses, including hundreds of women and children.

Advocate Kedar: "We welcome the State Attorney's Office's announcement of the closure of the case against the residents for innocence.

At the same time, we emphasize that this is an event that began with riots against Jews who defended themselves, and I hope that closing this case is accompanied by lessons learned and conclusions, especially the inconceivable situation in which the Israeli police literally abandoned those residents who cried for help and assistance. - They had to deal with a real danger to life, through measured and life-saving shooting.

"Unfortunately it took a long time, which involved torture and radical change in the families' life routine from end to end, including some of them who were forced to leave the city. The whole incident and investigations affected them and their families drastically. We hope this event does not change, ", Kedar added.
