Anyone who travels in autumn must continue to expect restrictions in popular holiday countries such as Austria, Italy and Co. in the corona pandemic.

An overview.

Using the autumn break for a short vacation sounds good.

But what about Corona?

An overview of the current rules in popular holiday countries.

Denmark vacation in autumn: Entry without restrictions for 3G

All corona restrictions in force within Denmark were lifted on September 10th *.

Before that, there was no longer a mask requirement.

So practically nothing stands in the way of an autumn holiday in a holiday home on the Danish North Sea coast or a city trip to Copenhagen.

Even the once very strict entry regulations of Germany's northernmost neighbor have become more relaxed and are being further reduced: Vaccinated, recovered and negatively tested holidaymakers from Germany can

enter without restrictions

.

The corona-related border controls by the police will end on

October 25.

Current corona rules in France

Museums, theaters, restaurants and sports halls are open in France.

Admission is only granted to those who present proof of vaccination, test or

recovery.

In France, you are also required to provide proof of travel by coach and long-distance train.

To enter mainland France from Europe, proof of vaccination or a negative PCR or rapid test is required.

Evidence is also required for the return journey to Germany.

The number of infections is increasing again slightly in France.

Most recently, around 48 people per 100,000 across the country were infected within a week.

Greece / Cyprus: What is currently valid

If you want to travel to Greece, you have to register on the website travel.gov.gr.

Among other things, it must be indicated there where you will be staying.

You will then receive a

QR code

, with which one can enter.

All travelers must either have a recent negative rapid test or be fully vaccinated.

This also applies to children from the age of twelve.

Cyprus ranks Germany in the red, i.e. severely affected, category.

This means for all immigrants who are not verifiably vaccinated or have recovered that they have to take a test both before and after their arrival and have to pay for it themselves.

In addition, the “Cyprus Flight Pass” must be applied for on a website (“cyprusflightpass.gov.cy”) at least 48 hours prior to entry and must always be carried with you during your vacation.

Great Britain: Simplified entry for Europeans in October

More than 40,000 new infections per day and as many deaths as last in March: The corona situation in Great Britain has worsened again significantly. Even so, discos, restaurants, cinemas and stadiums across the country continue to be full. A vaccination or test certificate is not required in the largest part of England. The government is under increasing pressure to implement its Plan B with relatively light measures such as masking requirements indoors.

Entry from most European countries, including Germany, will be much easier from October 24th

: Fully vaccinated people still have to book a test for day two after entering the country, but this can also be a cheaper quick test, unlike before.

A vaccination certificate is sufficient for the return journey to Germany in order to avoid quarantine.

Italy continues to rely on the "Green Pass"

Because the Corona situation is at a relaxed level, the number of infections is falling and more than 85 percent of people over the age of twelve are vaccinated at least once, Italy is getting closer and closer to normal.

The tool in the fight against the pandemic is the

“Green Pass”

, ie proof of vaccination, recovery or negative test.

Children under the age of twelve do not yet need to have a passport.

Tourists need the passport - the EU certificate common in Germany applies - to enter museums, cinemas, sports facilities,

discos and restaurants

, for example

.

Long-distance trains, cable cars and ferries also require the pass.

When entering the country, all adults and children from the age of six must complete an online registration and provide evidence of vaccination, recovery or a Covid test.

Tourists are required to provide a certificate proving that they have been

vaccinated, recovered or tested

.

Hotels receive guests without restrictions.

Restaurants and cafés are also allowed to serve in their interior areas, but only at the tables that are spaced apart.

Only a certain number of people are allowed to attend public meetings.

The number of infections has been rising steadily for months.

From a German point of view, however, the country - in contrast to neighboring and transit country Slovenia - is not a high-risk area.

In autumn in the Netherlands - under these conditions

The Netherlands fear a new wave of corona, because the number of infections has been rising sharply for two weeks.

The number of

patients in hospitals is also increasing.

This is mainly due to the fact that many measures have been lifted.

For example, you no longer have to maintain a safe distance.

A mask only has to be worn on buses, trains and at airports.

Before visiting restaurants, you have to prove with the Corona pass whether you have been vaccinated, recovered or tested.

This also applies to entry and return home.

All restaurants, including clubs and discos, must close at midnight.

Austria: What is currently applicable

The seven-day incidence has recently climbed back above 180 after weeks of stable values.

The Corona rules for tourists remain the same for the time being: You have to be tested, recovered or vaccinated upon arrival.

People who have been vaccinated have it easier in everyday life: they only have to wear FFP2 masks in supermarkets and public transport.

For those who have

not been

vaccinated, the

mask requirement also

applies

in all other shops and cultural institutions.

In Vienna, the requirements are stricter - here the 3G rule applies from the age of six, in the rest of Austria from the age of 12.

Spain and Portugal: Corona situation still under control

In the holiday countries that are very popular with Germans, the corona situation is still very relaxed. The number of infections is

significantly lower than in Germany. In Portugal, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and for seven days was last around 40, in Spain the incidence was only around 20. In Germany, the value on Wednesday was a good 80, around four times as high as in Spain. The vaccination rates are also among the highest in Europe and worldwide in both countries.

In the course of the positive development,

almost all corona restrictions

have now been lifted on the Iberian Peninsula

.

However, some rules still have to be observed: In Spain there is still a mask requirement in public indoors and on buses and trains.

Outdoors only if a minimum distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained.

In Portugal you only have to wear the mouth and nose protection in public transport, in old people's homes, hospitals as well as in theaters, cinemas and large shopping centers.

The mask may be taken off outdoors.

The nightlife is also largely exempt from restrictions.

The 3G rule applies to bars, clubs and discos in both countries.

Entry is only granted to those who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested.

In the meantime, a digital travel registration must still be completed for entry by air or sea.

And all tourists older than twelve must present proof of vaccination or health recovery.

Anyone who does not have this is obliged to show a negative PCR or antigen test.

Switzerland: What applies to ski vacationers in autumn and winter?

In Switzerland, the first ski area outside the glacier regions opens for tourists on October 23: Diavolezza in the Upper Engadine. There, as in the other ski areas,

there should be no additional requirements for tourists

according to the will of the mountain railways

. There is a mask requirement in public transport, for example, and in the interiors of restaurants as well as bars and cultural and leisure facilities guests have to prove either a negative test, a vaccination or a recovery. The EU certificate is recognized.

The number of reported corona infections is increasing again in some regions.

The situation is tense and the epidemiological trend is unfavorable, said the crisis manager at the Federal Office of Public Health.

Anyone who has not been vaccinated or recovered must present a negative antigen or PCR test upon entry.

In addition, all those entering the country have to enter their contact details digitally.

Anyone who has not done that and is caught must pay a fine of 100 francs (around 93 euros).
