The Green parliamentary group in the local council loses two members: Larissa Holmer and Ursula Retz join the UWG.

Gröbenzell - This means that the Greens will have five exclusively male members, the UWG nine members.

Since Mayor Martin Schäfer is also with the UWG, it is now the strongest parliamentary group with ten representatives.

The decision was not spontaneous.

Apparently there were problems with two parliamentary group members newly elected in spring 2020.

They see "no basis for further trusting cooperation," write Retz and Holmer in their statement on the transfer.

"The togetherness was very unpleasant," added Retz when asked by the daily newspaper.

As an example, Holmer cites that agreements were not kept.

They do not want to say who is meant by the two new municipal councils.

Particularly bitter: Ursula Retz has been a member of the local council for the Greens for 31 years, and the 64-year-old social worker has also chaired the parliamentary group since May last year.

But the party will not leave them.

Holmer, who is a non-party member of the local council, joined the Green parliamentary group in May last year.

Both are convinced that the values and content of green politics can also be pursued in the UWG parliamentary group.

"The UWG is a very tolerant group", emphasizes Retz, "which is not far from the green".

Mayor Martin Schäfer explains about the change of faction of the two municipal councilors: "Something like that happens again and again." As a UWG member, he adds: "We look forward to the two experienced and committed local politicians."
