Orientalist and political analyst Dr. Sergey Medvedko, a faculty member at the Russian State University for Human Sciences, described the bombing of a military overnight bus in Damascus as “a heinous terrorist operation and a human catastrophe.”
In an interview with SANA’s correspondent in Moscow today, Medvedko said, “The enemies of peace are trying to repeat the use of violence after their previous plans failed,” stressing that these criminal acts will increase the cohesion of the Syrians and their determination to fight terrorism in all its forms until it is completely eliminated.
Medvedko stressed the need to unify all international efforts to combat terrorism and eliminate terrorist threats, pointing out that whoever committed the cowardly terrorist bombing is the beneficiary of the attempt to weaken Syria and intimidate the Syrian people.
Medvedko added: There are also countries that exacerbate this tragedy, including Turkey, which occupies parts of northern Syria, as well as the Americans who control the northeastern regions of the country, and Israel, which usurps the occupied Golan despite all international resolutions that recognize the Golan is occupied Syrian territory.
In turn, the Russian military expert and researcher at the CIS Institute Vladimir Yevseev expressed the firm condemnation of the bus bombing.
Yevseyev said in a similar interview, "Those behind the terrorist bombing are foreign operators from regional countries and even the United States, which is not interested in the stability of the situation in Syria and insists on keeping its forces on its territory illegally," pointing to the possibility that Turkish intelligence was involved in the bombing, as the presence of Turkish forces in Idlib are also illegal and in violation of international law.
Yesterday, 14 martyrs were killed and a number of others were injured as a result of a terrorist detonation of two explosive devices targeting a military overnight bus as it passed near the President Bridge in Damascus.
