Without wanting to diminish the performance of the syndicate from Wolfratshausen and Geretsried, VSG spokesman Bernhard Wilhelm questioned the meaningfulness of the two opening successes a little: “We have twelve clubs in the district league this season - and five of them are promoted or successors like Wacker and TS Jahn. The level of the league is rather questionable. "
In any case, in Burghausen he never had to fear a loss of a set. Only in the first round against the home side it was a bit tighter. But what was due to the fact that Coach Habboubi had given the motto to put maximum pressure on the jump serves. "Then not everything went into the field or was served directly to the opposing libero," reports Wilhelm. After almost a year and a half of the Corona break, the first set of points ended with 25:23, a little closer than expected. "The opponents, especially if they have just risen from the district class, naturally build on a strong opponent," observed the VSG spokesman furiously fighting Burghausen, who, however, you can see in the next two sets (16:25, 11:25) gave up.
Even in the match against TS Jahn, the coach was not committed to a starting six. “At the beginning, those who were always present in training were allowed to play. Then he switched through nicely and evenly, ”reports Wilhelm. Against the weakened Munich team, the VSG, in which the outside attackers Markus Meinl (shoulder) and Tobias Adamek (back) were absent due to injury, also had no major problems. In the end, with 25:18, 25:16 and 25:18, there was a clear three-set success and the championship lead was the championship candidate.
Next Saturday, October 23rd, the volleyball players will again face a newcomer, TSV Waldtrudering.
The second opponent is TSV Hohenbrunn-Riemerling.
The game day takes place from 1 p.m. in the new Geretsrieder sports hall (access via Jahnstraße 2).
