NATA organized a night trip on the red line from Petah Tikva to Bat Yam • Opening of the line for passengers: only in about a year

Tonight (between Wednesday and Thursday), the Nata company conducted its first full test ride on the Petah Tikva light rail line to Bat Yam.

This is a slow ride designed to check all road conditions.

It started at 00:30 and ended two and a half hours later during which the safety, signaling, communication and electrical systems were inspected.

"We made history today, we practically drove from Petah Tikva to Bat Yam. For the first time, we opened the line from side to side with a perfect system in terms of electricity, carriages and tracks," said Nata CEO Haim Glick.

Due to delays in work, the red line is scheduled to open only next year.

The line will pass through 34 stations, including Petah Tikva Central Station, Beilinson Hospital, Savidor Train, Azrieli Tel Aviv, Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa to Bat Yam stations. The test trips will continue until the line opens in November next year.

"For the first time, two trains entered the city gates for a night test ride, and in the coming days test rides will also begin during the day," said Bat Yam Mayor Zvika Brut, who accompanied the ride.

"This is a historic moment that will bring a line to the city. Despite the disagreements with Nata, the traffic jams and the difficulty over the years - we put the disagreements aside to enjoy the fact that they see light at the end of the tunnel and expect full activity as soon as possible."
