After the closed conference of the district council, more and more details from the new report on the future of the hospital are getting through.

The Schongau hospital is therefore in acute danger.

The district office continues to be silent.

District

- The Weilheim-Schongau district will face immense challenges in the coming years.

A continuing high investment requirement in schools, administration buildings, but also when joining the MVV, the development of a noteworthy public transport system and measures for climate protection is offset by a steadily growing debt burden.

In a few years, this could ensure that hardly any investments are possible, as most of the income has to be used for interest and repayment.

In order to prevent this from happening, the district councils went into retreats twice.

The local newspaper now asked the district office whether they could be informed about the contents and results of the closed conferences in the context of a press conference.

That was rejected: “On the two closed closed days, the district councils were informed about the current tasks and challenges.

Resolutions were not passed ”, writes the press spokesman of the district office, Hans Rehbehn, in his answer.

The deliberations in the parliamentary groups would now be continued before there was to be a third closed meeting on November 17th. “All discussed topics will then be discussed in a public district council meeting, probably on November 26th. Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold discussions on the content until this meeting, ”Rehbehn continued.

This also means that by then there will be no information about the future of the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH hospital.

A report has been in the district office for months, which not only analyzes the current situation, but also makes suggestions as to how the future of the Krankenhaus GmbH can be shaped.

Ideally without the currently immensely high grants that the district transfers year after year: up to 15 million euros are due for operation and investments per year.

District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß gave an initial insight into what the solution could be in the spring.

At that time she spoke of the "vision" of a large hospital for the district.

As various district councils reported after the closed meeting, this is exactly the direction the report suggests.

So far, however, it is completely unclear where the joint hospital for the district could possibly be built.

But one thing is certain: Schongau is out of the question as a location.

The reason given in the exam is simple: the new hospital must be accessible from all municipalities within a maximum of 30 minutes.

This is by no means sure that Weilheim will automatically be considered as the location of the new hospital.

One possible solution that is mentioned again and again would be a hospital location in Peißenberg.

When choosing the location of the vaccination center, it was argued that Peißenberg would be particularly central in the district.

When asked by individual district councilors why they had invested around 50 million euros in the Weilheim location alone in recent years, they allegedly said that the planning and construction of a new hospital would take a lot of time.

So much time that the investment would pay off.

In competition with other hospitals in the Oberland, you have to invest regularly in order to remain attractive to patients, but also to nursing staff and medical staff.

Linked to the mind games about a new large hospital is the expectation that the district will have to invest significantly less for ongoing operations after its completion than before. Savings could be achieved above all by the fact that numerous facilities that are currently available and staffed at both locations - such as the emergency room - are then only available once.

In the coming weeks, the individual district council groups are to discuss internally how they position themselves for the future of the Krankenhaus GmbH.

However, there is again concern among the district council members that the actual decision has already been made in secret.

Because allegedly the district office has already made a preliminary request for funding for a possible new hospital building.

The uncertainty of how things should go on with today's hospitals meanwhile has an impact on the entire future planning in the district.

The construction of apartment houses for nursing staff at the Schongau site is still being discussed.

However, it is unclear to what extent this will continue to make sense if the Schongau hospital should be closed.

The managing director of the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH hospital, Thomas Lippmann, is also silent.

Votes still have to take place, he said when asked.
