To date, the great battle between console players has been mainly in the "exclusive titles" territory.

While Sony has owned quite a few development companies that regularly develop exclusive titles for the PlayStation console, from the Microsoft side in the Xbox segment, the exclusive titles released for the console are in most cases not the main reason why players purchase the Xbox.

Microsoft is certainly aware of the ongoing criticism heard from gamers around the world demanding exclusive titles to justify the purchase of the console, and a company has made quite a few acquisitions in recent years in order to let expand its game library.

Recently, Phil Spencer, CEO of Xbox, was interviewed by Wall Street Magazine, where he was asked about the future and the state of Microsoft's gaming division - the XBOX Game Studios.

The Wall Street interviewer asked if he thought in his opinion that the exclusive key team provided by Microsoft and whether the acquisition process was over, and Spessner's answer would probably please the company's fans: "We have no quota, no timeline that requires me to purchase keys at some point or time. "Studios that we have a good match with, we will share with them our vision and what we are interested in doing and achieving, and if we feel that this collaboration will contribute to both parties - this is definitely an option that is on the table."

"This is just one of the privileges we have here at Microsoft: we are able to take a long-term approach, and there is no doubt that adding new keys and creators to our offering is an important part of it. And now that they're part of the Xbox family, they see our roadmap in the platform and services I offer, and I want them to be able to do their creative work for the best. "

The "long-term approach" Spencer mentioned is aimed at the Xbox Game Pass service, in which Microsoft gives players access to an online game library containing hundreds of downloadable titles, including those exclusive titles developed and developed for Microsoft and its Xbox console.

Microsoft understood that the future of the industry will not be determined by which company will sell more console units, but that the consumer power is actually in regular services for which the consumer pays monthly.

The Game Pass service is also offered to PC gamers, and it is possible to combine the xCloud service - the gaming service via a cloud via the computer or mobile.

Combining these two services and their availability on different platforms for players who have not purchased an Xbox console, opens up Microsoft's offering to new target audiences.

Just about a year ago, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda - the developer of the Fallout series, for $ 7.5 billion, which also owns other keys such as Arkane and id Software, which are responsible for many popular shooting game titles such as The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Doom, Dishonored, and Quake.

Over the past few years Microsoft has also acquired Playground Games, Ninja Theory, Compulsion Games and Undead Labs, inXile, Double Fine and Obsidian Entertainment.
