"If you leave me I'll kill you": the story of Alexandra Richard, tried on appeal for the murder of her violent partner

Sentenced in 2020 for the murder of her spouse, Alexandra Richard, 43, tried on appeal, recounted on Friday October 22 the violence and death threats made by the victim on the day of the tragedy.

Alexandra Richard was sentenced in November 2020 by the Seine-Maritime Assize Court for the murder, with a hunting rifle, of her 36-year-old spouse on October 16, 2016, at their home in Montreuil-en-Caux.

The latter, in a state of intoxication, had just risen from his chair, threatening to "

kick his ass

", she had then explained.

On the fourth day of her appeal trial, the accused explained that the previous week "

the climate was extremely tense

" following a quad bike accident that the accused had: "

He pushed me onto the couch.

He slapped (the child) who was making noise as he tapped on the table.

We both went up to his room.

It was the alcohol that made him mean.

The victim also had two children from a previous marriage, aged 13 and 16.

Questioned by the president of the court, the accused said that she did not remember having pulled the trigger.

When I grabbed the gun, I opened it.

I loaded it (...) He fired on the cannon and the shot was fired.

Thursday the ballistics expert clarified that it was necessary to press the trigger for the shot to go.
