Recently, some phishing advertisements about the Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong appeared on the Internet from time to time, with the title "Luo Chi-Kwong (Chi)-Kwong Scandal Impacting Hong Kong" attracting netizens to click.
The Labour and Welfare Bureau today (22nd) urged the public to be vigilant and guard against fraudulent advertisements that pretended to be an interview with the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, and clarified that the advertisement has never been issued and the Secretary has never made any fictitious remarks in the fake interview report.
The "Hong Kong 01" reporter found out that most of the phishing advertisements involving Luo Zhiguang involved ads embedded in different websites by Google. Many of them mistyped Luo Zhiguang's name or used simplified characters directly.
"Hong Kong 01" inquired with Google and is waiting for a reply.
The bureau pointed out that recently, on some online news platforms and social media, suspected phishing-type fraud advertisements and websites containing the name of the director and news pictures were found, enticing users to click and connect to the suspicious trading platform.
A spokesperson for the Labour and Welfare Bureau urged members of the public not to log onto any suspicious web pages through these advertisements or provide personal information to unknown websites.
The spokesman pointed out that the bureau has forwarded the incident to the police for follow-up investigation.
In the past few years, many celebrities, such as Aaron Kwok, have become the solicitation of similar advertisements.
