At least seven people were killed, injured and others were missing today in an explosion and fire inside a workshop for the production of gunpowder in a factory in the Ryazan region, southeast of the Russian capital, Moscow.
The TASS news agency quoted sources from the Russian Emergencies Ministry as saying that, according to preliminary data, the accident that occurred at the Elastek factory led to the death of seven people and the injury of ten others, while the fate of nine others is still unknown.
The sources indicated that the fire, which the firefighting teams managed to control, broke out as a result of the explosion.
A huge fire broke out in the annex of a metal warehouse near a furniture factory in a Moscow suburb last January.
