Fewer people have been seriously injured or killed in road traffic in Brandenburg in 2021 than in the previous year.
In August, 217 people were seriously injured in accidents, according to the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office.
This corresponds to a decrease of 22.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
Nine people died in an accident, six fewer than in August 2020.
Potsdam - The number of traffic accidents remained roughly at the previous year's level (plus 2.3 percent), the number of serious accidents even rose by 6.4 percent.
A similar picture emerges according to the information from Friday for the entire period from January to August 2021. In a similar number of accidents (minus 1.1 percent), 1345 people were seriously injured, 12.9 percent less than in the same period of the previous year.
A total of 79 people died, 17 fewer than in the first eight months of 2020. dpa
