The Independent Police Complaints Handling Committee announced recently that officers left a restricted folder in the taxi on Monday (18th), containing the personal data of 20 complainants, police officers and witnesses being complained against.
The Police Supervision Committee announced tonight (22nd) that the relevant file folder has been returned by the taxi driver involved in the incident.
After the police officers recovered the folder, they have checked and confirmed that all the files have not been lost.

The IPCC recently stated that the restricted access folder left in the taxi contained investigation reports of 6 complaints, involving the personal data of a total of 20 people, including the names, ages, occupations, and identities of the 6 complainants. The card number, address and phone number have been masked, showing only a small part of the information; the names, police number, age, rank, seniority of serving the police force, and the name and occupation of a witness of the 13 police officers under complaint.
The IPCC stated that the relevant file folder was returned by the taxi driver involved in the incident. The committee thanked and commended the enthusiastic taxi driver for returning the relevant file folder and notified the police and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data of the latest situation. .
The association also apologized for the inconvenience caused to those affected by the incident.
