The Miesbach dean's office currently has high spiritual visitors from Senegal.

Archbishop Benjamin Ndiaye from Dakar has been in the region since Tuesday.

District - the archbishop wants to stay until Saturday - to get to know church life as well as the country, people and culture.

At the same time he reports on his work in Senegal.

The visit takes place as part of the Catholic solidarity campaign on World Mission Sunday.

On Thursday, for example, Ndiaye found out about marketing strategies in agriculture at the natural cheese dairy in Kreuth and visited the pilgrimage church in Irschenberg.

In between there was also time for an appointment with politicians.

Vice District Administrator Ulrike Küster received the Archbishop in the District Office.

"The visit contributes to mutual understanding and appreciation," says Stephan Fischbacher, Deputy Dean of Miesbach.

Ndiaye himself explains: "For me it is a good opportunity to show my appreciation for the long-term cooperation between our churches - so that people grow together more and more."

In Senegal, the Catholic Church enjoys a high reputation despite its minority status - above all because it is involved in the education and health sectors.

Their schools and hospitals function more reliably than the state ones.

The further path leads the Archbishop on World Mission Sunday, October 24th, to the festive divine service in the Munich Women's Dome, followed by a state reception in the Munich Residence.
