Bennett before the flight to Russia: The relationship between the two countries is a significant part of Israel's foreign policy
Prime Minister Bennett embarked on his first diplomatic visit to Russia, at the invitation of President Putin. The meeting is expected to focus on the Iranian nuclear program and the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Syria.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett set out this morning (Friday) for his first diplomatic visit to Russia, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.
At the center of the meeting, which will be the first between the two leaders, are expected the Iranian nuclear stand and the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Syria.
"The relationship between Russia and Israel is a significant pillar of Israel's foreign policy," Bennett said before taking off, "both because of Russia's special status in the region and its international status, and because of the million Russian speakers in Israel, who form a bridge between the two countries."
"In general, Israel's foreign policy and international status are significantly strengthening," he added.
"There are great energies, and the direction is very good."
Earlier this week, the UAE Crown Prince and Prime Minister of India invited Prime Minister Bennett to visit their country.

"The two will discuss a range of political, security and economic issues affecting the two countries, and important regional issues, including the Iranian nuclear issue," the prime minister's office said in announcing the flight, noting that Putin had invited Bennett to a meeting in Russia.
Bennett's trip to Russia comes after quite a few contacts between the countries after the formation of the new government.
NSS head of Bennett Il Hulata, visited Moscow and met with his Russian counterpart. Foreign Minister Yair Lapid met with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Tourism Joel Razvozov.
Bennett and Putin agreed to meet already in the first interview conducted after the advent of Bennett prime minister. So, Bennett thanked the President of Russia for his role in maintaining regional stability, as well as assisting in the issue of prisoners and missing persons, and thanked Putin for his congratulations on the formation of the government in Israel, and expressed his appreciation for the historic connection between the Russian people and the Jewish people.
