After a good five months of negotiations and a number of warning strikes, the Verdi union and the AGA business association have settled their collective bargaining dispute over the remuneration of around 60,000 employees in Hamburg's wholesale and foreign trade.

In the fifth round of negotiations, the collective bargaining parties agreed on Friday, retrospectively to October 1, to increase wages and salaries by 3 percent.

Hamburg - There will be another 1.7 percent increase on April 1, 2022, announced Verdi and the AGA corporate association.

The apprenticeship allowances will increase retrospectively by August 1 by 30 euros and by a further 20 euros on August 1, 2022.

The collective agreement has a term of 24 months.

"That is the merit of the strikers and those active in the factories," said Verdi negotiator Heike Lattekamp.

Despite all attempts by employers to split up, they would have shown the flag on the street and refused to allow themselves to be split.

Lattekamp spoke of a great success for the employees.

However, there was no agreement on a joint application for the declaration of general applicability for the collective bargaining agreements.

The HSV start of the season was a huge failure.

The club only sees the top of the table from a distance.

Has the climb already been done?

AGA negotiator Michael Fink said that the deal achieved the important goal of maintaining the collective wage agreement despite the difficult framework conditions. “The unusually late closing shows how difficult it is for both sides to bring their different points of view together in this round.” With five months of zero round, the financial burden on companies for 2021 could be at least partially cushioned. "Longer-term planning security also gives the companies a term of 24 months."

Originally, Verdi had demanded an increase in wages and salaries for employees by 5.5 percent over a period of twelve months.

The employers had proposed an increase of 2 percent from December 1 and a further increase of 2 percent from August 1, 2022 over a period of 24 months.
