Munich

- As announced by the Bavarian Family Ministry, a relief for parents of small children will be introduced with immediate effect: If a child catches a cold easily, has a runny nose and / or cough, it can continue to attend the day-care center.

According to the new regulation, the prerequisite is that the parents test the child for the coronavirus at home and report the negative result * by means of a signed certificate.

For this purpose, the self-tests should be used, which all daycare children have had for a few months for one application twice a week.

The Ministry has published the certificate, which parents can fill out and sign at home, as a pdf.

You can find the Kita-Test certificate under this link.

With a cold in the day care center: Parents can now test for themselves

So far, with mild symptoms, it was necessary to have a corona test * carried out by the pediatrician or a test station.

In the end, some paediatricians only offered free PCR tests, in which a longer waiting time for the result had to be expected and which made family planning more difficult.

According to the Ministry of Family Affairs, the relief is possible because "Kita children are currently less affected by the corona virus than the general population and especially compared to school children *".

Other colds are currently very common in young children, so that a coronavirus infection cannot automatically be suspected if the symptoms are mild.

Kita: After more severe symptoms, a further PCR or rapid test is required

If a child has severe symptoms such as fever, sore throat and earache and severe cough, he or she has to stay at home and can only recover or with clear improvement of the symptoms and with a negative PCR or rapid test in daycare or kindergarten.
