Now one thing is certain: It will take place - but not in the center of the village and much smaller than usual.
The community and the organizers agreed on this in a meeting on Thursday.
Benediktbeuern - Everyone involved has a problem of justification, says manager Michael Herrmann.
“We recently had to cancel the Leonhardiffahrt for legal reasons.
And six weeks later, we will smuggle a lot of people through the Christmas market.
We have a stomach ache. ”The number of Corona cases in the district is currently“ immense ”.
In addition, it is not feasible to comply with all Corona requirements on the narrow village street: "One-way traffic, for example, is not possible," says Herrmann, referring to the up to 15,000 visitors who can be expected.
Market could take place in the community and guest park
Despite the difficult framework conditions, the Christmas market should not be canceled without replacement. Herrmann could imagine that the event could alternatively take place in the community and guest park behind the town hall. "The number of visitors and thus also the income will be lower than at the Christmas market, which we know," predicts the manager. On the other hand, the community could provide the clubs with the sales booths at the alternative location free of charge: "In this way, the clubs still have the opportunity to refill their battered coffers." On the side, everything runs within the framework of what is responsible: “This is a short-term solution that is appropriate to the situation and that everyone involved supports."Everything this year runs under the motto:" From Benediktbeurern for Benediktbeuern. "
Organizers want to ask clubs whether they can live with the new concept
The organizers want to ask the clubs what they think of this concept in the next week and clarify who has the time: “Then we will fix the whole thing on schedule,” announced Herrmann.
In a week it should be clear how the Christmas market will run this year.
The city of Bad Tölz has already given the green light for the Christmas market.
