The AfD parliamentary group leader Tino Chrupalla was infected with the corona virus.
As the group announced on Friday, he tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently in quarantine at home.
"Mr. Chrupalla can therefore not take part in the constituent session of the German Bundestag on October 26," said the parliamentary group's announcement.
Berlin - According to reports, his quarantine has been going on for a few days.
So far, nothing has been known about further infections in the group.
Co-group leader Alice Weidel tested negative for the virus, according to a spokesman, and will attend the meeting.
During the election campaign, she repeatedly emphasized that she was not vaccinated against Covid-19.
Chrupalla, who is also party leader, had recently forbidden questions about his vaccination status in interviews.
Weidel and Chrupalla had criticized several times that pressure was exerted on people who had not been vaccinated.

Because of an overturned truck, federal road 9 in the direction of Frankenthal from the Oggersheim interchange has been closed since Wednesday morning.
A lane in the opposite direction also had to be closed for the rescue work, as the motorway police announced on Wednesday.
