The idea of the Swiss company “Energy Xploit” to build a “high-tech park” including a wooden high-rise with the Austrian architect Rüdiger Lainer on a vacant urban industrial area in the Penzberg Nonnenwald will come to nothing. According to the mayor, the focus will be on other interested parties in the Nonnenwald property.

Penzberg - Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) said on Thursday that the city council had already decided in its non-public special session at the end of September to focus on other interested companies, of which they are more convinced. As a consequence, this means that the "Energy Xploit" project is being refrained from, says Korpan. He verbally informed Robert Vetter - he is responsible for business development at the company - shortly after the meeting. So a rejection? “Yes, right,” said Korpan.

So one must have been all the more astonished at the Penzberg town hall that the company went public with its “high-tech park” idea for the Nonnenwald at the end of last week.

Managing director Christoph Pfister had told the local newspaper that there had been no rejection or acceptance from the city so far.

According to Korpan, industrial space should be divided into thirds

In response to the newspaper report, Mayor Korpan ("I would have planned to do it anyway") wrote an email on Wednesday to managing director Pfister, Robert Vetter and lawyer Andreas Vetter.

In it he repeated, according to his own statements, that the city council had largely distanced themselves from their project in the Nonnenwald.

He also expressed his astonishment at the report, as he had already communicated the decision orally.

When asked, the mayor also stated that the city council had decided in the special Saturday meeting - at that time interested companies presented themselves - that the industrial area may be divided into thirds.

One company is being discussed more specifically, and further discussions will be held with a second company from Penzberg.

These are medium-sized companies from the metalworking sector, said Korpan.

Managing director Pfister said on Thursday that, from his point of view, it was not a legal rejection, as it was only an email and there was no city council resolution.

It is believed that the land allocation must be made public and should not take place in a closed session.

“We want transparency,” he said.

Likewise, they want to seek a conversation with the city.

Korpan stated that such topics would not be dealt with publicly because it was about issues such as real estate issues, company affairs and investors.

He had nothing against the company, but others were more convincing.

He just thinks it's a shame “when a company that is not taken into account goes public and tries to put the city council in the wrong light”.

Korpan wants to clarify whether an official decision is still necessary because of the purchase request from "Energy Xploit".
