After a fatal argument in Düsseldorf's old town, a suspect turned himself in to the police.
However, he was released after his interrogation, as the German press agency learned.
The young man testified that he was attacked by the later victim - and that he resisted.
The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported.
Düsseldorf - A week ago, a young man (19) from Bottrop was seriously injured on Düsseldorf's Burgplatz with a broken bottle.
He died in the clinic.
According to the autopsy, the bottle had injured his heart, whereupon the 19-year-old bled to death.
As it was said by investigators on Friday, the suspect's statement is correct.
He was therefore released again.
