The director Volker Schlöndorff was awarded the honorary prize at the award of the Hessian Film and Cinema Prize.
Schlöndorff accepted the award on Friday in Offenbach.
Around 350 guests were invited to the gala.

The Newcomer Prize, endowed with € 7,500, went to the Belarusian director Aliaksei Paluyan.
He studied directing in Kassel.
His thesis “Courage” deals with the protests in his home country against the ruler Lukashenko.

Helge Schneider receives Kassel Prize for grotesque humor
The comedian and musician Helge Schneider will receive the Kassel Literature Prize for grotesque humor next year.
The award is endowed with 10,000 euros.
This honors Schneider for his “radical, anarchic, grotesque, always existential humor and the freedom it provides,” declared the Brückner-Kühner Foundation and the City of Kassel on Thursday.
