Many years ago I discussed the relationship between Shenzhen and Hong Kong with the leaders of Shenzhen. I mentioned "Hong Kong-Shenzhen co-city". The other party said humorously that you can say this, but we can't.

Mainland officials pay much attention to the feelings of Hong Kong people. If they propose "same-city", they may be very sensitive.

Due to the long-term divisional mentality, many Hong Kong citizens do not understand the Greater Bay Area plan.

The Greater Bay Area is the central government's strategic plan to upgrade the role of the southern economic engine, hoping to make better use of the economic complementary functions of Hong Kong and Shenzhen to make this engine more powerful.

Going south can connect with China’s largest trading partner, ASEAN, and promote better economic development of the “Belt and Road”; internally, the Greater Bay Area can lead the Pan-Pearl River Delta region to provide energy for another wave of economic development, and by expanding Hong Kong The role of "interconnectivity" is to undertake the higher-level economic strategic docking between China and the world.

"Hong Kong 01" held the "Greater Bay Area Interconnection and Co-creation Symposium" this afternoon (22nd). The founder Yu Pinhai gave a video speech.

Since the reform and opening up, most of the development strategies launched by the central government have successfully led the country on the road of enriching the people and strengthening the country. I believe this time will also be successful.

Hong Kong should strengthen itself as a "Chinese" international financial center, help other economies in the Greater Bay Area to develop, and at the same time help itself successfully break out of the deep-seated structural dilemma of the economy and industry. The industrial economy has found opportunities for upgrading, transforming the passive, passive, and differentiated "One Country, Two Systems" into an active, active, and integrated "One Country, Two Systems", realizing a second return.

Vice Premier Liu He recently warned whether China’s service industry economy can get rid of "Baumol's disease". The service industry has seized the proportion of "progressive economic links", which has reduced the proportion of manufacturing industries with higher production efficiency, which previously had the advantage, weakened overall productivity and stagnated economic development.

In fact, this disease has long existed in Hong Kong, but because it is a chronic disease, many people have not noticed it, let alone study how to treat it.

The development of China's service industry is only in its infancy, and the central government has noticed that once the disease is contracted, the gap between the rich and the poor will worsen, and economic efficiency will continue to shrink.

China proposes "Manufacturing 2025" to develop high-end service industries such as e-commerce, financial innovation and technology, adhere to the efficient operation of the economy, and emphasize common prosperity. It is to break the middle-income trap and build a knowledge-based economy that is efficient, common prosperity, and technology-driven. .

Hong Kong must learn from the Mainland with a humble attitude, actively respond to its own Baumol disease, promote industrial upgrading, and solve Hong Kong's livelihood and social problems.

The policy address just released emphasizes the development of the "Northern Metropolis". This is the direction of development that "Hong Kong 01" has always believed in. Although the policy address does not propose how to release the government's potential to promote reforms, we agree and support the direction.

Regarding industrial development, the statement in the policy address is far from sufficient. It cannot only emphasize asset investment, but does not fully consider talent investment.

What exactly is "Innovation and Technology" and how to do it?

These issues are the same as the development of the "Northern Metropolis", which requires courage and scientific planning.

Metropolitan planning and the real emphasis on the innovation and technology industry has been exchanged for so many years of tossing (turbulence). At present, we are only seeing the "vision", and success is still far away. We must boldly implement it, not just investment in assets and talents, but also The society should be guided to understand the significance of this strategic adjustment to Hong Kong.

To integrate Hong Kong into the Greater Bay Area, it must actively promote the development of the same city between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

What does co-urbanization mean?

Those who have been to Europe will know that there is no "border" between countries such as France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

There is "multiple countries, multiple systems" among EU countries. If they can travel between countries unimpeded, why can't the "one country, two systems" of Hong Kong and the mainland establish a more efficient flow mechanism and create a better business and living environment?

Some people worry that it will impact Hong Kong’s way of life. This idea is meaningless. What's more, today’s technology is enough to solve everyone’s worries. If there are still worries, continue to make amendments and reforms based on the "one country, two systems" principle.

In addition to the comprehensive reform of the customs clearance mechanism between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, "Hong Kong 01" also proposed to merge Hong Kong Airport, Shenzhen Airport, Macau Airport, and Zhuhai Airport into one airport, with the four terminals connected by maglev trains.

Hong Kong Airport is responsible for international shipping, Shenzhen is responsible for domestic, Zhuhai is responsible for freight, and Macau is responsible for business. There are maglev trains between the terminals (Shenzhen Airport to Hong Kong Airport is about ten minutes), whether it is from airspace management or land efficiency , Operational efficiency, convenience for business travelers, and financial benefits will be greatly improved. At least this is the world's largest airport with eight runways and passenger throughput.

The merger has not only solved many practical problems, increased economic production capacity, but also strategically consolidated the Greater Bay Area’s position as an indicator of the next round of competition in the world economy.

Hong Kong has always been an economy growing in the midst of changes, and China has been the biggest driving force behind the changes in the world over the past decade or so.

When we begin to feel the practical significance of "the world has not experienced major changes in a hundred years", we should further study the role of our country in the major changes, and how Hong Kong participates in the changes as a lever and perspective mirror of the country: leverage is leveraging The big changes are developing in a direction that is beneficial to the country, Hong Kong, and the world. The perspective mirror is that the world better understands China through Hong Kong and allows China to better adapt to the world.
