How does the horoscope influence the coronavirus vaccine? These are the signs that protect themselves the most and those that take risks

One county in Utah analyzed immunization figures and deduced a relationship of Zodiac signs to vaccination in an attempt to convince more to get immunized.

Health authorities have offered all kinds of incentives to the population to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, from giving away beers to free childcare.

Utah's Salt Lake County, however, has devised a new strategy: it has linked the vaccination rates of its residents with their zodiac sign.

According to this analysis, which is obviously not scientific at all because the horoscope is fun with no real effects on people, those who are most vaccinated are Leo (with a rate of 70%) and Aquarius (67%), and the least are Virgo (50%) and Scorpio (46%).

While some people of the Leo sign celebrated that first place on the social network Twitter, others regretted being at the bottom of the list: "The only time I have been ashamed of being a Scorpio," said one.

The response to the post was "overwhelmingly positive," Nicholas Rupp, communications manager for the county health department, told The Washington Post.

This initiative "brings out a competitiveness of the people because nobody wants their sign to be in the lowest position, even if they do not believe in astrology," he added.

Narayana Montúfar, astrologer for Horoscope.com and Astrology.com, told the newspaper that some of the classifications make sense based on their beliefs: Leos like to be the center of attention and Aquarians are the ones who are most related to the community and social work.

Aries and Sagittarius are also known to be social, he added, always according to this mythology without any scientific basis.

Along the same lines, astrologer Anne Nordhaus-Bike told USA Today that three of the first four signs are fire and that they "want to lead the charge."

To calculate these figures, the county health department compared the dates of birth of vaccinated residents with data on the national distribution of astrological signs.

Rupp pointed out that the goal of the "analysis" was to

get people talking about vaccines.

He stressed that the vaccination data are anonymous (only the date of birth is known), adding: "COVID-19 and the vaccine are not influenced in any way by astrological signs." But even Scorpios should be vaccinated.
