Kempten / Oberallgäu - City of Kempten and the district of Oberallgäu have jointly launched the “Get your pavement” initiative.

They want to make it easier for people to access information about the corona vaccination.

"We notice that there is still a great deal of uncertainty on the subject," said Kempten Mayor Thomas Kiechle. The Oberallgäu district administrator Indra Baier-Müller has had similar experiences: “Sometimes people don't even know that the vaccination is free.”

The “Get your plaster” initiative is now set to change that. Among other things, the district and city have set up a website, equipped the vaccination center in Kempten with “scan icons” and keep people up to date on social media.

The vaccination page

www.hol-dir-dein-pflaster.de

has recently been online.

Information on the subject of corona vaccination is summarized on it in simple language.

What does vaccination do for me?

What do i need to know about it?

How is my vaccination appointment going?

People will find answers to these questions there.

In addition, the difference between vaccination reactions and side effects is explained and a warning is given about vaccination myths and so-called "fake news".

Scanions translate into numerous languages

With the website, Kempten and the Oberallgäu go one step further than other sites of this kind: Under the item “How does my vaccination appointment work?”, Visitors come across icons that they can also find in printed form in the Kempten Vaccination Center. With one difference: In the vaccination center there is also a QR code under each icon. These are the "scan icons". As the name suggests, you can scan the QR codes with your smartphone. The website then appears on the smartphone with an explanation of what to do at the respective location in the vaccination center.

“The QR codes are a great relief - especially for people who speak little or no German,” explains Kiechle.

Because both the explanations and the entire website will in future also appear in a large number of other languages such as Italian, Turkish and Russian.

To do this, the website uses the language set in the browser.

In this way, people with little or no knowledge of German should be relieved of the fear of language barriers that may prevent them from going to the vaccination.

“Anyone who can, should get vaccinated.

So we want to reach as many people as possible, ”said Kiechle.

Schedule for vaccination campaigns

This also includes people with deadlines. For them there is an overview of the dates of the special

. The district and city also post them regularly on Facebook and Instagram.

There, those responsible also announce when the opening times of the vaccination centers or the vaccination point change and deal with individual aspects relating to vaccination. In doing so, they will soon also be using animated films that present the information even more clearly.

“We want to reach those who hesitated to vaccinate and provide information that is easy to understand,” says Baier-Müller.

“There is enough vaccine and it protects.” Thomas Kiechle also appeals to the people: “Please find out more.

With

, the posts and the animated films, we offer you comprehensive information and everything you need to know about vaccination. "

Vaccination hotline

If anything is still unclear, Baier-Müller and Kiechle point out the vaccination hotline: On 0831/87 02 34 56, people can ask questions about vaccination from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (as of October 2021).

Medical questions are excluded.
