Saxony's Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) paid tribute to the deceased Dresden composer Udo Zimmermann.
With his work as a conductor, musician, artist, artistic director and composer, he “touched, inspired and delighted countless people,” he said on Friday.
"Saxony was Udo Zimmermann's home, from here he worked tirelessly for contemporary music and decisively shaped contemporary music in Europe."
Dresden - The former opera director, festival director and artist died on Friday night at the age of 78 in his house in the Saxon capital, after a long, serious illness.
