Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed in Moscow today with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Issues and Emergency Aid Coordinator Martin Griffiths the urgent issues on the international humanitarian agenda, including the situations in Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Ethiopia, Venezuela and Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that during the meeting, it was emphasized the importance of providing assistance to all those in need without preconditions and in full compliance with the basic principles of humanitarian assistance documented in United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 46/182.
The two sides pointed out, according to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the importance of adhering to the continuation of cooperation with the relevant agency of the United Nations to serve the interests of an effective solution to urgent humanitarian tasks and the maintenance of stability and security in various regions of the world.
