After a year of Corona break, the city of Mainz wants to bring Christmas booth magic back to streets and squares.
"The Christmas market can take place in almost the usual way in the usual places," said Economic Department Head Manuela Matz (CDU) on Friday.
The more than 90 stands are to be set up in an equalized manner and, in addition to the center at the cathedral, will also be distributed on streets in the city center.
Mainz - This will make Mainz a “Christmas city”, said the head of the Office for Economics and Real Estate, Petra Henkel.
For visitors there is a mask requirement and access according to the 3G rule, i.e. not only for vaccinated and convalescent people, but also for people with a negative corona test.
"Summary controls" are planned for this purpose.
Mask must also be worn when queuing in front of a stand.
When eating and drinking, a distance of 1.50 meters applies, friends and relatives can also stand together in small groups.
