Mother encouraged her son and his 14- and 15-year-old friends to get drunk and have sex, according to authorities


At one of the parties she was hosting, 47-year-old Shannon Marie O'Connor allegedly handed a teenage boy a condom and shoved him into a room with an intoxicated girl. He faces more than 30 charges.

This Wednesday, bail was denied for a Silicon Valley mother accused of organizing parties with alcoholic beverages for her teenage son and his friends, whom she encouraged to consume alcohol and have sex with intoxicated minors.

Shannon Marie O'Connor, 47, appeared for the indictment in a Santa Clara court, where

a judge also issued 15 protection orders for people who authorities said were victims

, including one of her two teenage sons. reported the San Jose Mercury News.

His defense attorney, Sam Polverino, argued that the prosecution's request to deny his client bail deprived him of his rights and was "incompatible with due process," the Mercury News reported.

He is scheduled to plead guilty on December 17.

Prosecutors allege that

from June 2020 through this May, O'Connor held at least a half-dozen large parties

and a few smaller events in Silicon Valley, where he lived then. 

During the meetings, authorities say, he

encouraged the guests, mostly 14 and 15 years old, to get drunk and engage in sexual acts.

In December, at one of the parties held at his Los Gatos home,

O'Connor handed a teenage boy a condom and shoved him into a room with an intoxicated girl

, authorities said.

They were both minors.

She was able to escape and locked herself in the bathroom, said Christina Hanks, an investigator for the Santa Clara County prosecutor, court files reveal.

Arrested October 9 in Star, Idaho, a suburb of Boise, where she settled with her children at the end of her last school year, O'Connor was transferred to California on Tuesday to face

39 felony and misdemeanor charges, including assault. sexual and sexual abuse of minors


There are three additional grand larceny charges related to $ 120,000 in unauthorized spending on the credit cards of the company where he worked, including payments for clothes, limousine rides and delivery of alcoholic beverages to his home.
