In the center of Holzkirchen, the traffic jam snaps shut.

The short-term closure at the Rosenheimer Straße level crossing (MB 4) closes another important connection.

There are already disabilities on Tegernseer Straße, Miesbacher Straße and Münchner Straße.

Motorists can expect a tough week.

Holzkirchen

- Two entrances completely closed, two more made more difficult by traffic lights and long rail gates: anyone who wants to drive into the center of Holzkirchen by car from next Monday or out of it needs a lot of patience. Most unexpectedly, Rosenheimer Strasse will be completely closed from Sunday, October 24th to Friday, October 29th. At the level crossing (towards Mangfalltal) the DB has the track renewed at short notice, the crossing cannot be used, the district road is blocked. Traffic will be diverted via the north spade MB 9 and St 2573.

“That surprised us a little,” says Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) when asked.

The town hall chief believes that the timing of the closures could have been better coordinated in advance.

The situation in the coming week is far from ideal for everyone who comes to Holzkirchen or moves in Holzkirchen, "however, as a community we have very little influence".

Since these are supra-local roads, the district office is responsible for approving the closures.

A closure is also planned for the Simon-Judi-Markt

The construction site in Rosenheimer Straße is causing additional discomfort in the town hall, as another closure is planned for the Simon-Judi-Markt on Sunday, October 31: the inner Münchner Straße is to become a promenade.

A free Rosenheimer Straße would be required as a diversion route - which works when the level crossing reopens punctually on October 30th.

The long-announced modernization of the level crossing in Tegernseer Straße has been going on since September 26th.

The crossing there (St 2573) is expected to be closed until the end of October, then the same game will follow at the Miesbacher Straße level crossing until the end of November.

One of the two transitions remains open;

however, when a train approaches from the direction of Warngau, the barriers close for up to 15 minutes, since the safety is done manually.

"That is certainly a tough test for drivers," says Schmid, "but ultimately we benefit from it because the two Holzkirchen level crossings will no longer be related to Thann and Lochham and the closing times will then be shorter."

District heating expansion requires patience on Münchner Strasse

For weeks now, drivers have had to plan waiting times on Münchner Strasse.

At least until the end of October, a traffic light will lead traffic past a construction site of the municipal works on one side.

"We are creating an important link between three district heating networks there," says the mayor, "with this we can get our geothermal energy everywhere."

"Citizens are extremely interested in our district heating," says Schmid, "that's why we're pushing ahead with the expansion."

All in all, according to Schmid, a lot is expected of the citizens with the closings in Holzkirchen.

"But these construction sites help to improve living conditions," says the town hall chief and recommends for next week: "Hold your breath and get on with it."
