Two other councilors have resigned from the CSU - this time in Irschenberg.

There the group loses half of its members.

Again, this is due to state and federal politics.

Irschenberg

- Klaus Waldschütz almost left the CSU in the summer.

The Irschenberg farmer has been considering leaving the party for months, he confesses in an interview with our newspaper.

He stayed for a long time because of the local association - "a great group".

CSU withdrawals in Bavaria: allegation to Söder - farmers left in the lurch?

Now he can no longer represent the decisions in the federal and state levels.

After the referendum “Save the bees”, Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) let the farmers down.

The tougher Corona measures compared to other federal states would have sealed his exit.

Waldschütz: "I am immensely disappointed with the CSU." In the most recent meeting of the municipal council, he was no longer part of the CSU parliamentary group.

Together with Markus Nägele, who left the CSU and parliamentary group at the same time, Waldschütz will form a non-party parliamentary group in the future.

Transport company Nägele also says that his decision is due to the “top management”, not the local association.

He refers to traffic jams at the border and delayed Corona aid.

“You feel left alone.” With his departure, he wanted to set an example.

The CSU loses half of its four-seat faction in the municipal council (a total of 16 seats) as a result of the double exit.

With Waldschütz, the only farmer in the parliamentary group and the local chairman of the farmers' association resigns from the party.

He had 900 votes in the election a year and a half ago - the second-best result of the CSU.

Almost a third of those eligible to vote in Irschenberg had chosen him.

Nägele contributed over 600 votes.

After leaving the CSU: Mayor reacts

When asked by our newspaper, mayor and CSU local chairman Klaus Meixner said he understood the decisions.

For the local association, however, the current situation is a difficult chapter.

The upswing in which he was after the victory in the mayoral election a year ago is stifled from above.

"We can't help that, and that's a shame."

At the meeting itself, Waldschütz and Nägele were silent about their departure.

Meixner only said the reasons were known internally.

But he only spoke of "two withdrawals" from the CSU parliamentary group.

He didn't mention any names.

That it was about Waldschütz and Nägele only became clear when the municipal council reassigned its committees because of the parliamentary changes and Waldschütz and Nägele were run as non-party.

The two are the CSU councilors number four and five in the district, who have been turning their backs on their party since June out of frustration at decisions at higher levels.

In contrast to previous resignations - Josef Kaiser in Rottach-Egern, Georg Eham in Hausham and Josef Berghammer in Gmund - they are also leaving the CSU parliamentary group.

This, both emphasize, is a formal decision recommended by the administration.

Nägele: "We will continue to work well with all political groups."

Committee changes

The Irschenberg audit committee and the road development committee will each grow by one member of the non-party faction to six participants.

This means that all political groups are represented in all committees.
