The process of the mass killings in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp will be interrupted in the coming week.
The reason is that the 100-year-old defendant has to undergo an operation in the hospital on Monday, as the presiding judge Udo Lechtermann said on Friday at the beginning of the fourth day of the trial in Brandenburg / Havel.
The process should continue at the beginning of November.
Brandenburg / Havel - On Friday it was planned that an officer from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) reported a search of the defendant in 2019.
According to the indictment, the now 100-year-old is said to have assisted the murder of thousands of inmates in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp as a security guard for the SS.
On the second day of the trial, the defendant denied having been in the concentration camp.
For organizational reasons, the proceedings before the Neuruppin Regional Court are being conducted in a sports hall in Brandenburg / Havel.
A total of 22 negotiation days are planned for the process until January 2022.
