Attention Halloween fans: This year we are looking for the most beautiful pumpkin head again.
And this time you can even admire the orange-colored works of art for a whole week, and then choose the most beautiful one.
Schongau
- The good news of the pumpkin competition is unfortunately preceded by bad news: There will be no Witches' Night this year either. “We didn't want the site to be fenced in,” explains Maria Mader from the Altstadt advertising association. That would take the charm away from the flair of the witches' night. And this fencing would have been mandatory at the ideal time of planning and preparation.
"There is a lot of work involved in such a witch's night," continues Mader: "Among other things, a stage and bands have to be organized, as well as road closures, city tours and other attractions." The catering with delicacies in the individual shops is also currently not available permitted.
All in all, it would not be a witch's night as the organizers and the guests would like.
“We are very sorry, we would have liked to have done it, but Witches Night would have no magic that way.
We'd rather do it again next year, and be smart for it. "
Exhibition of works of art in the "Weibsdeifi market"
What can be held, however, is the pumpkin head competition. “We have so many large shop windows in the Weibsdeifi market that they are ideal for this”, says Beatrice Amberg from the group “Schongau animated” happily that the event can take place this year as well. And this is how it works this year: small and large artists can hand in their work on Friday, October 29, between 5 and 6 p.m. in the Weibsdeifi market in Schongau (Münzstraße 9). "Without registration," emphasizes Amberg. There they are then displayed in the shop windows for seven days.
Voting slips are then available in the market itself and in the participating shops, which can be handed in at “Royal Döner & Pizza” (also at Münzstraße 9) by 3pm on November 6th.
"We hope that this will also entice people to stroll through Schongau's parlor," says the organizer.
And of course she hopes for many artists who will bring their beautiful pumpkin heads.
Looking for original prize donations for the most beautiful pumpkin head
Amberg has another recommendation for them: "Since the pumpkins are left indoors for a week, they should be made more durable." For example, the pulp that has been dried with a kitchen roll can be treated with hairspray or petroleum jelly.
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 6th, at 5 p.m. on Marienplatz.
“We at 'Schongau animated' would be very happy if one or two of the other would donate a creative or original prize,” Amberg calls out.
Or, as a Halloween saying goes: "Klapper, Klapper, boneman, skull and ghost stuff, pumpkin face, witch hat - give something, then everything will be fine."
