Today, the second steam group in the Zara thermal power plant was put into service and connected to the electrical network, after the completion of the general maintenance work that included the turbine, boiler and chimney in this group with the national expertise and competencies working in the station.
The Minister of Electricity, Eng. Ghassan Al-Zamil, pointed out during his briefing today at the station to the efforts and initiatives of the station’s cadres, which saved more than 10 million euros on the public treasury, indicating that these qualitative works accelerated the maintenance process by reducing the scheduled timetable from 6 to 4 months.
Engineer Mostafa Shantoot, director of the General Company for the Zara Power Plant, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the maintenance work included the chimney, boiler and dry tower, in addition to turbines and their accessories, with the aim of raising the production capacity of this group to about 200 megawatts instead of 90 megawatts, indicating that the second group after the completion of Its maintenance works will not need similar maintenance again until after 10 years.
It is noteworthy that these works come within the framework of the Ministry of Electricity's plan to maintain the various components of the electrical system and rehabilitate what was destroyed by the war on Syria.
