It is not too late to relaunch multilingualism in the European institutions.
This is one of the main conclusions of the report devoted to
"linguistic diversity and the French language in Europe"
submitted Wednesday, October 20 to ministers Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (Francophonie) and Clément Beaune (European Affairs), a few weeks before kick-off of the French presidency of the European Union.

However, the path to be accomplished seems immense as English has imposed itself, both written and oral, as the dominant and almost exclusive language in Brussels, eclipsing over the years and as the bloc has widened the 23 other official languages of the Union.

a principle recognized by European Union law
".
