The Semperoper Dresden reacted with dismay to the deaths of the musicians Udo Zimmermann and Bernard Haitink.
"Today is a sad day for the world of music, for Dresden and for the Saxon State Opera," explained Artistic Director Peter Theiler.
The death of both artists left a noticeable void in cultural life.
Haitink died on Thursday at the age of 92 in London, Zimmermann on Friday night in his hometown of Dresden.

Both musicians were closely associated with the Saxon State Opera and their Staatskapelle Dresden.
Haitink was chief conductor of the Staatskapelle from 2002 to 2004.
