Blacksmith Anton Kölbl wanted to help the pandemic-damaged showmen with a beer mug to stick on.

In the meantime, 16,000 euros have been raised.

And the recipients are completely amazed at the handover.

Munich / Parsdorf

- Suddenly it becomes very quiet at the table in Donisl: Yvonne Heckl and Andreas Avi, who just talked about the life of the showman before and during the Corona crisis and the slow restart, are simply speechless. With big eyes they look at Anton Kölbl, who is sitting opposite them in the traditional inn on Munich's Marienplatz. He just mentioned a number: 16,000 euros. This is how much his fundraising campaign, which he carried out for the benefit of showmen from the beginning of June to the beginning of October, brought in: the "Spendiermass".

Now he has handed over the money to the chairperson of the Association of the Historical Society of Bavarian Showmen, under the umbrella of which around 1000 showmen are united.

After a few seconds of positive shock, chairwoman Yvonne Heckl and her deputy Andreas Avi said in unison: “That's unbelievable.

We thought we might collect a few hundred euros, which would have been crazy. ”No, Kölbl unpacks a large symbolic check for proof and for the photo, on which it is written in black and white: 16,000 euros.

Kölbl is a passionate Oktoberfest goer himself

Review: In June our newspaper reported on the goldsmith's campaign from Parsdorf (Vaterstetten community, Ebersberg district). The “Spendiermass” then really picked up speed, the campaign was disseminated and supported in particular via social media - among other things by traditional costume associations, by musicians and artists, by companies and by hosts like Peter Reichert. The Donisl boss also supported the campaign in real life by distributing promotional beer caps for the "Spendiermass" during the Wirtshauswiesn. "A great action," says Reichert when handing over the money.

Because the Munich Oktoberfest and other festivals and markets were canceled due to Corona, Anton Kölbl - himself a passionate Oktoberfest goer - thought about how he could support showmen. The result is the "Spendiermass" badge, two centimeters in size and seven grams, which he made and sold in bronze (35 euros) and sterling silver (45 euros). For the traditional costume and as a sign of support for the showmen. His goal was 10,000 euros, he said at the start. He is also amazed that there have been many more. “A Munich company, for example, bought 40 pieces for its employees. As a replacement for the Oktoberfest, where the employees would normally have been invited, ”reports Anton Kölbl. He sold a total of 1200 dispensing masses.Incidentally, he has had the name protected (www.spendiermass.de) and, due to the demand, he wants to bring out a gold edition at the beginning of December and continue the campaign until Christmas.

As a thank you, there's a medal for the goldsmith

After Yvonne Heckl and Andreas Avi have found their voice again, they report on some big and small fates of showmen during the corona pandemic and the lockdowns. All anonymous, but: "We are a family." In that one helps each other, especially with little things. “If somebody can't pay an electricity bill.” Andreas Avi tells an example of a case: “I was recently at an event with my booth and someone else from us also came. We saw that its tires were totally worn out. Due to the lost income in the past few months, he has not been able to afford any new ones. ”Heckl and Avi announce that money from the total amount will be used by Anton Kölbl for cases like this. And as a jump start for the upcoming Christmas markets.

At the end of the meeting in Donisl, the chairwoman of the showman society hands the goldsmith a medal from the Munich Showmen Foundation.

She received a few copies of the Wiesn city councilor Hermann Memmel, who died in 2019, with the words: “The medals are for those people who mean well with the showmen.” At Donisl, Heckl said to Kölbl: “You are such a person.

I don't know who deserves it more than you. "
