The French sporting goods giant Decathlon is recalling one of its products because of possible health risks.
The trekking food "Rice with Chicken Curry Gluten-Free Freeze-Dried 120 g" from the Forclaz brand is affected, according to the German federal states and the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety on Friday.
Plochingen - As part of security and quality controls, the team from the outdoor brand Forclaz determined that there was a potential security risk, the German subsidiary of the group, based in Plochingen in Baden-Württemberg, explained in a message.
The determined ethylene oxide content is accordingly above the permitted limit value.
According to the consumer advice center, ethylene oxide is a pesticide and fumigant and is used to combat bacteria and fungi.
The carbon-based compound can therefore change the genetic makeup, cause cancer and is banned in food production in Europe.

A wolf pack has settled within the Berliner Ring.
The two parent animals and four puppies were seen in the Döberitzer Heide in Brandenburg west of Berlin, announced the Heinz Sielmann Foundation on Tuesday.
The area is only around 30 kilometers from Alexanderplatz in the center of Berlin.
On Tuesday, the State Environment Agency (LfU) confirmed to the German Press Agency that the animals were wolves.

According to Decathlon, this affects products that were purchased between June 28 and August 16, 2021 and have the batch number 16621003 and the best-before date June 15, 2024.
These could be returned in the Decathlon branches.
The purchase price will also be reimbursed for products that have already been opened.
