The storm that swept over Thuringia on Thursday did not cause any extensive damage in the forests of the Free State. According to the first cautious estimates of the Thuringian Forest State Forest Agency, there were between 40,000 to 60,000 solid cubic meters of wood from uprooted and fallen trees and broken branches across the country. In addition to the tree species spruce, a significant proportion of hardwood in the amount of damaged wood can be determined.

Erfurt - "At the moment, all available forest workers are busy restoring the accessibility of the forest areas affected by the storm", says Volker Gebhardt, board member at Thuringia Forest.

At the same time, the State Forestry Agency warned against entering the woods at the weekend, as there was still a risk of broken, stuck branches and falling trees even after the immediate storm.
