“We are with the family in the projector without a roof”, says the new song by the Dresden collective 01099. The four musicians describe their lives in their homeland, although their fame has long gone beyond the city limits.
Dresden - The name of the artist collective already gives it away: 01099 comes from Dresden Neustadt - and the new song “This and That”, which was released this Friday, is about the trendy district.
“Dresden is great love, that's where we all come from,” 22-year-old Paul told the German Press Agency.
With millions of streams on all common platforms, Gustav, Paul, Zachi and Dani have long been known across Germany.
A lot has happened to the boys since their song “Frisch”, with which they were successful in 2020.
They don't want to commit themselves to the genre - rap elements with melodic sounds can be heard.
The plan to go to university after school therefore didn't work out for the time being - at least for three of the "01099" members.
Dani is the only one who is currently studying and is therefore not there very often at the moment.
The others now concentrate entirely on the music.
“You can still study then,” says Paul.
At the same time, none of this is even feasible.
The musicians now not only work with music producers known in the scene, such as Lucry and Suena.
The German rapper RIN, who has won several gold records, has recently shown interest in the young people of Dresden.
"He once wrote to me one night and said like this: Yeah, I have a song here, put something on it," revealed the 19-year-old Gustav.
Together they released a remix of the song "1976" in the summer of this year.

“Some things come about over a night, it feels like you're stuck in the vibe and think like this: Wow, badly beautiful,” explains 19-year-old Zachi.
The current song “This and that” is about their life in Dresden Neustadt and a time together when “the family”, as they call themselves, is out and about in their friend's convertible.
Gustav wrote it last year, as he says.
It has become a "great mishmash" because his own part was supplemented with new recordings by Zachi.
In general, it is very important for the people of Dresden to stand out with their texts and to shed light on different topics.
"We have a few principles that we don't want to say a few things," explains Paul.
In other interviews, the musicians emphasized that it was important to them not to spread sexist content in their lyrics and to remain authentic.
For the future, the boys have more projects to come - they don't want to reveal any more.
Just this much: "We work on music, a lot of music that belongs together," says Paul with a grin.
