Why so big

Why with a farm shop and holiday apartments?

Why not somewhere else?

The Wagyu cattle breeding planned by Vinzenzmurr for 130 animals near Mörlbach continues to raise concerns in the Berger municipal council.

Mörlbach - The Berger municipal council remains skeptical about the Wagyu cattle breeding plan for Mörlbach for 130 animals - even after the non-public on-site meeting on Thursday, in which almost the entire committee took part. Raimund Niedermeier, head of the estate administration of Vinzenzmurr boss Evi Brandl in Wadlhausen, had invited to what he called an "informative talk". A small survey by Starnberger Merkur afterwards showed: The local politicians want to take their time with a final opinion - even if there are clear tendencies. Because the topic is a concern for the citizens (especially in Mörlbach), after all, it is about a large agricultural operation in the middle of nature - with a stable, machine hall, mobile silo, dung store, wood chip hall, slurry pits, but also a house, holiday apartments and a farm shop.More than 4,600 square meters would be sealed.

Mayor Rupert Steigenberger emphasizes that his opinion-forming process has not yet been completed.

There are three sticking points for him.

“Does it have to be this place?” He asks.

Or could it not also be Wadlhausen, where Evi Brandl, and thus Vinzenzmurr, has already sealed surfaces anyway?

“Does it have to be this size?” Is Steigenberger's second sticking point.

And then it still has to be clarified whether the project is really sustainable.

It just makes a difference whether you are dealing with a well-known local farmer or with a large butcher shop operating across southern Germany.

The mayor wants to prevent Vinzenzmurr, for example, from taking a completely different direction in two years from an economic point of view.

The fear: that Vinzenzmurr will make something else out of it in the end

There are empirical values in this regard. QUH councilor Elke Link refers to Merkur demand: She indicates that two originally planned agricultural projects by the property developer in the area have ultimately become commercial and residential uses. Link also emphasizes that she and her group colleagues are open to the matter. She understands that downsizing the estate management project might be unprofitable. According to Link, its head Niedermeier is ready for a so-called dismantling clause should cattle breeding be given up one day.

Niedermeier himself does not want to comment on details given the current status. He is relatively covered as long as he has not yet received any feedback from the district building authority in the district office and from the agricultural office. Sissi Fuchsenberger (SPD) is also worried that one day there could be a change in use. “It wouldn't be the first time,” she says. She found the on-site visit interesting. Niedermeier tried very hard to give concrete insights. However, he was unable to dispel your concerns about the location and the planned holiday apartments. Verena Machnik (Greens) wonders why a farm shop is needed (“There are so many Vinzenzmurr branches”). As a Greens, it is already difficult to support meat production with its high CO2 emissions.

Steigenberger emphasizes that the community is “not hostile to agriculture.

It is not about preventing anything, but about a justifiable solution ”.

On the way there, he could imagine “win-win situations”, such as involving the surrounding farmers in the slaughtering process.

The next bureaucratic step is the agricultural privilege granted by the Agriculture Office.

A corresponding appointment with the authorities would originally have been scheduled for this Friday.

According to Steigenberger, however, it is due to illness.
