Angela Merkel attended her last European summit on Friday.
The German Chancellor hangs up after her 107th European summit since 2005, when she still met Jacques Chirac or the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
She ends a 16-year term as head of Germany, almost as long as Elmut Kohl, the Chancellor of Reunification.
Tributes rained down on Mutti, between the ovation led by the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the little phrases launched on the sidelines of the summit by European leaders.
The emotional sequence should not overshadow the fact that these two days of work did not lead to much concrete.
On Thursday, discussions on the explosion in energy prices yielded nothing more than what had already been announced on Wednesday by the European Commission, namely the establishment of a "toolbox" which imputes Member States are responsible for taking emergency measures, such as reductions
