The 20th edition of the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention, which is organized by the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, in cooperation with the Syrian Inventors Association and the General Organization for International Fairs and Markets, and in a strategic partnership with Syriatel, will start tomorrow.
The exhibition activities will continue within the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University until the 28th of this October, with 276 works by participants from Syria and Iraq who put designs and inventions in several axes, namely: reconstruction 10 participation, design, production and fixed construction 9, electricity 52, medical fields 45 and mechanical engineering 29, Technology 117, Chemistry 14.
Shafiq Al-Azab, director of commercial and industrial property protection, said in a statement to SANA that material prizes will be distributed to the first winners from each axis for the first place one million Syrian pounds, the second 750,000 pounds, the third 500,000 pounds, and in-kind prizes to the rest of the winners, in addition to two prizes from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). For the distinguished, according to the opinion of the Scientific Research Committee, and honorary shields for the participating and sponsoring bodies.
The Al-Basel Fair according to Al-Azab aims to encourage creators and inventors to continue their scientific trends and develop their inventions, in addition to achieving the maximum benefit from these inventions and putting them into practice to serve the goals of economic development in Syria by investing capital in following up the national creativity and innovation process.
It is worth mentioning that the first Al-Basel exhibition was launched in 1992 and continued to hold its successive sessions even during the years of the terrorist war on Syria.
