The Oberfischbach fire brigade was founded on October 23, 1921 - exactly 100 years ago.

And it was an eventful 100 years.

A review.

Fischbach - "rescue - rescue - extinguish - protect" - these slogans are used to describe the tasks of fire brigades today.

The more technology in the everyday life of the citizens, the more cars on the streets, the broader the spectrum of demands on the auxiliary staff has become.

Adapting to this and aligning training, exercises and equipment accordingly is the indispensable accompaniment of this development.

43 founding members are in the list

The Oberfischbach fire brigade can look back on 100 years of eventful history: the founding meeting took place on October 23, 1921. 43 members signed the list when a voluntary fire brigade on a club basis was brought into being at Gasthaus Einbachmühle - as in some places at that time - from a compulsory fire brigade.

The then mayor Josef Bauer ("Aller") was elected chairman, his namesake Josef Bauer from Kiefersau became the commandant.

In order to give the new formation firm structures, they immediately set about building a tool shed in the Schwaig district, supported by tension and hand services.

The community bought a hand syringe.

Additional inventory could be bought with donations and the proceeds of the first Christmas tree celebration, which was held in the year of foundation.

On March 4, 1922, the Fischbachers had to prove themselves in the fire of the bung factory in Tölz

A few months later, on March 4, 1922, the team had to prove themselves in the fire in the Grätz plug factory in Tölzer Mühlfeld: "By the time the Tölzer steam sprayer could be put into operation, the Fischbacher Wehr was already providing important first aid with its hand sprayer," is can be read in a short version of the chronicle created in 1991.

This was created by the later long-time chairman Martin Heimgreiter.

The contribution made by the Oberfischbacher Wehr in fighting the major fire at the Moralt company in April 1924 was therefore not negligible. The fire was so great that the Munich Wehr was called in to help because the Tölzer motor-fired sprayer failed.

The standard consecration took place in 1926

In addition to the emergencies, there were also representative and social events.

This includes, for example, the implementation of the district fire brigade day in 1925, which was given a lot of praise and recognition. What the association was still missing was finally fulfilled in 1926: with the Tölzer fire brigade as a sponsor association and numerous other surrounding fire brigades, standard inauguration could be celebrated.

It is noteworthy, it is said, that in addition to the Heilbrunn music band, the Fischbach church choir and the Wackersbergers also contributed to the cozy part of this festival.

In 1946 the fire brigade was revived

In 1935, however, the Nazi regime put an end to all club life.

In 1946, exactly on the 25th anniversary of the founding, the Oberfischbacher Wehr was revived.

"After the dreary years of the war, this event, with plenty of good food and free beer, created a new and exuberant comradely spirit," the records say.

The dawn of the technical age demanded to keep pace.

In the 1960s, among other things, the acquisition of a Borgward crew car from Wehrmacht stocks.

With a lot of personal contribution, a suitable fire truck was created.

In addition, a hay machine was soon added to the equipment, which could be used to detect dangerously heated haysticks.

Municipal reform also affects the fire brigades

With the municipal reform of 1971, the Unterfischbach volunteer fire brigade, founded in 1938, was incorporated into the Oberfischbacher Wehr.

The primary goal was now to build a contemporary, centrally located tool shed.

When the lengthy question of the location was finally resolved, it was time to do a fair bit of personal work again.

At the inauguration in 1981 in connection with the 60th anniversary celebration, the team could really be proud.

But there was also a celebration for the next round anniversary: Former Mayor Josef Bauer, who had always been a supporter of the fire brigade during his long term in office, had donated a new flag.

The technical equipment now included a modern fire truck, breathing apparatus, as well as a few handheld radios and pocket alarm receivers.

80 years after it was founded, there were the first women in the team

80 years after it was founded, there was another novelty: the team received female reinforcements.

That there is generally a prosperous further development only if every generation does its possible in its time is an old wisdom that is also confirmed in this profession - the passing on of the “comradely spirit” and the wealth of experience to the younger ones was always included .

The social presence and participation of the association in the local community was never left out.

The toboggan races once held on Blomberg and the early carnival balls are almost legendary.

Lots of promotions: from vacation dates to Christmas tree celebrations

In the meantime, in addition to a traditional summer party, the Fischbacher Floriansjünger have been offering an annual holiday pass campaign since 1999 in order to give the children real impressions of the world of fire services and, at the same time, essential principles for behavior in an emergency. The Christmas tree celebration, which takes place every two years, has been a benevolent companion since the association was founded - the income generated as well as donations from private individuals and companies have made it possible again and again that some equipment does not burden the community budget, but could be paid for from one's own budget . Since the turn of the millennium alone, this has included an emergency power generator, a multi-purpose trailer, a flood pump, door opening tool and the “blue robe” for the team.In addition, maintenance work on the tool shed and repairs to the vehicles can largely be carried out by our own ranks.

The fire brigade currently has 65 active members

65 active members are currently listed.

Some of them were in support during the conflagration at the Herzogstand in 1990 and remember the damage management after the storms "Wiebke" and "Vivien", a series of arson attacks in 1994 and the threshing-floor fire of a farm on the Buchberg Meter long hose line had to be built from the Stallauer Weiher.

Not so long ago, for example, was the aid given during the floods in Tölz in 2005 and deployments during extreme snow events.

In between there is a wide range of various emergencies and traffic accidents, especially on Töl 7, which challenge the troops.

The planned festival week had to be canceled

The fact that the planned week of celebration could not take place this year for the 100th anniversary of the Oberfischbacher Wehr due to corona is a shame, say the current chairman Hans Haas and commander Florian Krinner.

“But that's the situation now.” They are happy about their 13-person youth group who are currently completing their basic training.

So the prospects are good that the comradely spirit and the idealism to protect belongings, the life and health of people and animals on a voluntary basis will continue to be alive according to the motto "Honor God, defend your neighbor." (Rosi Bauer)

The Lenggries fire brigade also had to cancel its celebrations this year.

It has existed for 150 years.
