Former European Championship medalist Marco Mathis ended his career as a professional cyclist at the end of the year.
The 27-year-old from Meckenbeuren near Friedrichshafen returned from the road to the track at the beginning of 2020 and had participated in a large part of the Olympic preparation for the track four, but missed the Tokyo start due to the qualification rules.
Frankfurt / Main - “The non-participation was bitter.
But it was clear to me beforehand that I would stop after Tokyo.
I'm sticking to that, ”said Mathis.
For the former Katusha and Cofidis professional and U-23 world time trial champion (2016), the Omnium Championships in Frankfurt (Oder) in mid-December will be the end of his career.
He won the European Championship silver in the time trial mixed on the street in 2019.
