According to the Ministry of Health, it is difficult to predict how many general practitioners and specialists will take care of patients in which locations in the future.

There are mutliple reasons for this.

Mainz - In Rhineland-Palatinate, the supply of general practitioners has decreased in most regions in recent years.

This emerges from a response from the Ministry of Health to a major request from the AfD parliamentary group.

The so-called degree of coverage was lowest this year in the planning areas of Prüm and Saarburg / Obermosel, each with around 79 percent.

In 2013, the value there was still around 86 and 91 percent, as can be seen from the list, which is based on data from the Rhineland-Palatinate Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians.

There was also a decline in most of the other 50 or more areas listed.

In Lower Saxony, the number of new admissions of Covid 19 patients in the clinics increased slightly on Thursday.

The country gave the so-called hospitalization value with 2.3.

On Wednesday it was 2.2 and on Tuesday 2.1.

The measure indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were admitted as inpatients during the past seven days in connection with a Covid 19 disease.

Corona incidence further decreased slightly

The corona incidence has continued to decrease slightly in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In seven days, the health authorities registered 52.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, according to figures from the Robert Koch Institute on Monday morning.

The previous day the value was 53.8 and a week earlier it was 57.7.

The national average rose slightly on Monday morning by 0.5 to 64.7.

According to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), the degree of coverage is the basis for whether additional doctors can settle in a planning area or whether measures are taken to ensure care.

Below a value of 75 percent, the KBV speaks of an undersupply, between 75 and 100 percent of an imminent undersupply.

According to the Ministry of Health, the level of primary care was highest in Koblenz / Lahnstein (113.4 percent), Hermeskeil (111.8 percent) and Bingen (111.5 percent).

While the value in the Koblenz / Lahnstein planning area has increased slightly since 2013 (111.3 percent), it fell in Hermeskeil (2013: 128.3) and Bingen (134.1 percent).

Since 2013, according to the ministry, family doctor care has no longer been planned at the district level, but on a smaller scale in so-called planning areas.

When it comes to specialist care, the picture varies depending on the regional and medical area.

With reference to the KV, the Ministry names three cases as areas of imminent undersupply: the Prüm area for general practitioners, the Altenkirchen district for neurologists and the Trier district for child and youth psychiatrists.

In all cases, the KV was given different deadlines to avert the impending undersupply.

In the opinion of the Ministry of Health, the future development of the degree of care depends mainly on how many doctors will leave their profession in the next few years and how many newcomers will be added, for example by taking over a practice or being hired.

This depends to a large extent on the attractiveness of the communities and the respective region.

The Ministry explained that it was important to create employment opportunities in practices and medical care centers, as more and more doctors no longer want to set up their own practice, but prefer to work as an employee.

For these reasons, it is not possible to forecast the degree of coverage.

The Ministry of Health expects the still relatively new quota of rural doctors to have a noticeable impact from 2030. Additional medical study places will be awarded to applicants who undertake to work in an underserved area after completing their training as a family doctor or to work in the public health service, regardless of their high school diploma .

The project started almost a year ago at the University of Mainz.
