Wolfratshausen is planning the Christmas market: Because only a few Corona requirements apply, the usual Budengasse should reopen.

There are few changes.

Wolfratshausen - the smell of mulled wine, grilled sausage and a homely atmosphere: the Christmas market is an atmospheric crowd puller.

The fact that he had to cancel last year due to the corona pandemic hurt many Wolfratshausers, for whom strolling through Budengasse is just as much a part of the Christmas season as buying gifts and baking cookies.

Corona requirements fall: Christmas market in Wolfratshausen should take place (almost) normally

This year the old town can shine again in Christmas splendor: The municipality is already planning this year's Christmas market.

This is made possible by a new regulation of the Bavarian state government.

Economy Minister Hubert Aiwanger announced that many of the feared restrictions will be lifted.

No 3G rule, no mask requirement, no alcohol ban - the market can take place almost as it used to be.

The minimum distances (1.5 meters) must still be observed.

"We will move the booths further apart and leave more space where visitors can hang out without crowds of people", announces market master David Wehner.

Wolfratshausen Christmas Market: mulled wine, bratwurst, handicrafts

The basic concept of the store should only be changed in a few details.

The classic Budengasse with decorated huts and the scent of mulled wine is being rebuilt in Marktstrasse, which is closed to car traffic.

"We want to offer a nice mix of craftsmanship, mulled wine and food stalls again," says Wehner.

There shouldn't be a pure eating mile in the old town.

“We make sure that the mix is varied,” says the 31-year-old.

He may therefore have to reject one or the other application if there are already enough mulled wine stands.

Wolfratshausen: Christmas market for children in the inner courtyard of the town hall

In the inner courtyard of the town hall, a Christmas village opens for children with a train, children's punch and various activities.

Before the pandemic, this innovation was well received by families.

Younger visitors in particular will find a winter offer on the other bank of the Loisach: the mobile ice rink will be reopened there.

“We have a nice, wide range of offers for families,” says Wehner happily.

The Christmas market in Wolfratshausen has a fixed date: Budengasse opens on the first weekend in Advent

The news that after a one-year break a Christmas market can take place again - as always on the 1st weekend in Advent, from November 26th to 28th - "made us very happy". A market with a mask and 3G rule "would only be half as fun," believes the market master. Nevertheless, the city would like to take a few measures regarding the corona pandemic. "We will put up signs that draw attention to the rules and provide some disinfectant dispensers," says Wehner. In addition, the city plans to strengthen the security service, which ensures compliance with the rules. At least six security employees should patrol the market. In front of the individual booths, the stand operators are responsible for ensuring that the rules are observed. So you could, for example, put waiting markings on the street like in a supermarket.

Wolfratshausen: Many registrations for the Christmas market

The parties, clubs and restaurateurs are happy about the relatively loose regulations for the Christmas markets.

"The feedback is good," says Wehner.

He does not give any figures, but the employee of the City of Wolfratshausen reveals: "Of the stand operators represented so far, almost all have accepted again."

A Christmas market is to take place in Geretsried again this year.
