The General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest has started implementing the artificial afforestation plan for the next season by planting about 55 thousand diverse forest plants of conifers, laurel and broadleaf in the locations of Annab, Mishal and Jurin.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Fayez Muhammad, the director of natural resources in the authority, indicated that the plan focused on the forest sites that were exposed to fires and infringements of random cutting, in addition to developing a production plan for about 85,000 plants of various types of forests, including cypress, fruiting pine, bruti, Aleppo, laurel and oak. And oak and others, through the Salhab Forest Nursery.
Muhammad explained that a number of measures have been taken to reduce violations and suppress infringements, through the continuous patrols of the forestry police officers in coordination with the concerned authorities to suppress violations, activate the work of forestry stations, perform night shifts and confiscate the mechanisms that are seized.
He pointed out that the number of seizures organized since the beginning of the current year has reached 260 forestry seizures, which included seizures of cutting, breaking and deforming forest lands and charring.
