Damascus Governorate issued a decision depriving 150 public transport vehicles, buses, Servis microbuses, from refueling, for not being committed to working on their lines and reaching their end.

The Director of Traffic and Transportation Engineering in Damascus Governorate, Engineer Yasser Bastouni, said in a statement to SANA’s delegate that the decision includes depriving the aforementioned violating means of transportation from refueling with diesel for a period of 15 days, and regulating the controls of failure to reach the end of the line by the Damascus Traffic Branch in accordance with the regulations and laws, explaining that it will be deprived 15 percent of the violating mechanisms as a first payment from each line. Upon completion of the deprivation of the first payment, the second payment will be followed by 15 percent of each line to include all the violating mechanisms, in order to prevent the lines from being unloaded from the mechanisms operating on them.

Bastouni pointed out that the violations came after monitoring the work of public transportation on the lines within the city, especially under the President Bridge, Al-Thawra Street, and the traffic intersection at the SANA agency in Al-Baramkeh and near the Farmers Union in Al-Fahahah, through the monitors who were placed to stamp the monthly fuel cards for each vehicle carrying passengers exclusively. For each trip you take after checking the card and the vehicle plate number.

After checking the monthly fuel supply cards since the start of the work of the monitors on the fifteenth of last August until its end, it was found, according to Bastouni, that about 150 means of transport had not been stamped at all for not serving their lines or not reaching the end of the itinerary specified for them, which indicates the use of diesel For purposes other than those designated for it, he stressed that heavier penalties will be regulated in the event of a repetition of the violation.

On the fifteenth of last August, the Damascus Governorate placed monitors affiliated with the Directorate of Traffic and Transport Engineering in the governorate to control the work of public transportation, including internal transport buses for the public and private sectors, and service buses and microbuses, by stamping the monthly fuel supply cards for each trip they take.
