2021-10-23T10:53:23.877Z

What is the most suitable sealing method for the roof? What material is recommended? and how much does it cost? • Opacity is not a bad word

Opaque people are a curse, but opaque homes are a blessing.

For the cold season, we have prepared an article for you about sealing the house for the winter.

To this end we have checked with some sealing contractors what is the most common and safest method today for perfect sealing, one that makes sure our house is completely impervious to moisture.

Most contractors in the country prefer to work with bituminous sheets.

Unlike other methods, the use of bituminous sheets frees you from maintenance or bleaching of the roof after sealing.

There are two types of sheets on the market: APP (sheet that is highly resistant to sun and heat) and SBS (sheet that is resistant to cold up to minus ten degrees).

The only downside to bituminous sheets is that they do not perfectly cover a complex roof with many air conditioners and solar panels.

so what are we doing?

In this case, you may be required to remove the obstacles, clean the roof and raise the solar panels before starting the sealing work.

Note that if it is a new roof, you will need to make slopes with light concrete in order to direct the water towards the gutters. If the roof is old or in a difficult condition, you will need to peel off the loose seals.

You can do it yourself, but because it is a complex job we recommend the help of a professional.

Estimated cost of this service: NIS 1,000.

Tar - Out, Polymers - None

Another recommended method is sealing using polymeric materials sprayed on the roof.

Their color is white and therefore do not heat unlike tar, and are suitable for use even in summer.

This method is suitable for sealing roofs and exterior walls.

The cheapest method of sealing and the least recommended by the contractors is to apply hot tar on the roof.

This is a less recommended method today, because you need to apply a layer of lime on the tar so that it does not heat up.

Also, fractures or cracks may form in the tar layer.

How much does it cost us?

Tarring roofs up to 100 square meters will cost between NIS 3,500-6,000, roof tarring 100-200 square meters will cost you between NIS 30-70 and roof tarring over 200 square meters will cost you NIS 25-50.

Sealing a roof with acrylic sealing material will cost you NIS 30-60 per square meter, roof sealing with a polymeric material up to 50 square meters will cost NIS 45-100 per square meter, and if your roof is over 50 square meters, you will pay between NIS 30-60 Per square meter. Price for sealing roofs in bituminous sheets 5 mm: NIS 85-120 per meter.

Finally, the most important tip for any contractor is to ask how long a warranty you get on the job.

The usual time for a warranty is five years, although some contractors also give a ten-year warranty, which means they are confident in their work and want to give you peace of mind for many years to come.
